- Loose associations; ideas that are disorganized or confused, and when they try to speak them they Come out incoherent.
- Clanging; speaking in rhymes
- Neologisms; inventing words to express idiosyncratic thought
- Hallucinations; false perceptions that are created by the brain, they have no basis in reality. Auditory hallucinations are the most common these voices are as clear as the voice as a real human being. the voices are usually negative, and can provoke devastating behaviors.
- Affective flatting; looking dazed
- Lack of eye contact, or responding to communication)
- Avolition( the inability to participate in a goal oriented activity)
- Catatonic behavior;
- Impairment of abstract thought
- Schizophrenia is a gene, yes. however there are certain things that have to happen in order for the gene to become "active". once the gene is active you will notice a decline in personal functioning, worsening memory problems, social withdrawal, uncharacteristic ideas, and bizarre or unusual behavior.
- Grossly disorganized behavior; encompasses behaviors like agitation, or childlike silliness. this can lead to difficulties in daily activities and abnormities in dress wear.
- Emotional Disturbances; typically means a lack of emotional responsiveness, however some people with schizophrenia have very powerful emotions. the two ends of the spectrum are called apathy and listlessness.
- Altered sense of self; sometimes people with schizophrenia don't have a clear sense who their own identity, separate from those around them. They also might experience depersonalization.
- Delusions; false beliefs based on stored content in the brain. once a delusion has begun it is futile to try and reason the person experiencing it out of it.
- Grandeur; believing you have extraordinary abilities.
- Identification; believing you are a well known historical figure of famous.
- Persecution; the paranoia that other people are deliberately trying to harm you.
- Reference; thinking that behaviors of people, or world events relate directly to you.
- Sin or guilt; believing that random tragedies are your fault.
- Thought broadcasting; the "ability" to send your thoughts into someone else's mind.
- Thought Insertion; believing that others are inserting their thoughts into YOUR mind.
